Since March 16, quarantine has been introduced in the village of Staroye Aktashevo, Tsivilsky District, due to an outbreak of anthrax. First, they closed the yard of the family, where they discovered the source of infection. And later, all local residents were forbidden to leave the village.

Residents of the district center Tsivilsk, which is 22 km from the village of Staroe Aktashevo, told what is happening in their district.

“The authorities voiced a strange version of what happened,” says Antonina. “According to them, one man bought a young bull through an ad. He fed the animal with grain of unknown origin. He did not vaccinate cattle against anthrax. On March 3, he sent the calf to be slaughtered because it got sick. It is expensive to treat him, and there was no point. While processing the carcass, the man cut himself. Later, he and his wife were diagnosed with anthrax. But before getting to the hospital, the owner of the goby managed to sell the meat and skin to unknown people. To whom exactly he sold, for some reason he does not name. According to rumors, the carcass could have been dumped by the gypsies, we have a lot of them here.

Now it became known about the third infected person, he seems to be also from that village. But he left for the Moscow region to work before the announcement of quarantine.

We are half an hour from the infected village, but we have no panic. We survived covid, do you really think we will be afraid of an ulcer? What’s more, we didn’t get any warnings. Everything is quiet. We buy meat, as we bought it in the store. My friends live in that village, they don’t worry either. By and large, no one cares.

Another resident of Tsivilsk said that she learned about the incident in the hospital: “I heard about anthrax on March 14, when I was with my child at the hospital. Doctors even then whispered among themselves that they had patients with anthrax. I did not pay attention, I thought it was some kind of nonsense. I read it on the news the next day. Then she called the hospital and asked how dangerous it was. I was told everything is fine, there is no danger. But until now, no one knows to whom the owner of the bull sold the infected meat. No one is going to refuse meat products in our country. We usually buy meat at the Zvenigovsky meat processing plant. Whoever is tight with money, they take it from private traders, it’s cheaper from them. ”

Local resident Alexander believes that something incomprehensible is happening in the area: “In the village where everything happened, a checkpoint was set up, houses are being disinfected with some kind of chemicals. Identified 130 people who were in contact with the infected. They are watched, but they are not isolated. While there is little information, it seems that something is being hidden from us. And the main question for everyone is – to whom is the infected meat sold?
