More than 750 trees were planted in 2023 by specialists of the Municipal Services Complex in landscaped areas of Moscow. This was announced by Deputy Mayor in the government of the capital Pyotr Biryukov.

He noted that landscaping work was carried out in the fall and early winter. Mature trees decorated a section of Leninsky Prospekt, the territory of about 16 Maryinsky regulatory ponds, the “student quarter” near the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Tsvetnoy Boulevard, Vorobyovskaya Embankment and the Walk of Fame of the Winter Olympic Games Stars, the territory of the Southern River Station, the 40th anniversary of the Komsomol Park, the Moscow Palace pioneers and the Eteri Tutberidze Figure Skating Center.

According to Pyotr Biryukov, the most trees were planted on Leninsky Prospekt: almost 200 elms, bird cherry trees, maples and ornamental apple trees appeared in the area from Universitetsky to Lomonosovsky Prospekt.

Linden, rowan, spruce and larch trees were also planted in the capital.

The Deputy Mayor noted that planting trees is one of the most important components in creating a comfortable urban environment.

“Greening of public spaces plays a huge role, especially for such a huge metropolis as Moscow. Green spaces purify the air, protect from street noise and road dust, and create shade and coolness on hot days. Any territory becomes more comfortable and cozy when trees, shrubs and flowers appear there,” emphasized Pyotr Biryukov.

The head of the Urban Economy Complex explained that plants for the capital are chosen taking into account their ability to adapt to the difficult conditions of the metropolis and the visual appearance of the streets. All plants are grown in special nurseries, where they are prepared for transplanting.
