IAC decided not to investigate the causes of the crash of Prigozhin’s plane – Kommersant

Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) informed, which does not conduct an investigation into the plane crash with the Embraer Legacy aircraft in the Tver region on August 23, in which the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, died. The IAC report notes that the committee also does not comment on the circumstances of the plane crash.

On the IAC website in the section “activities” saysthat the committee “investigates all aviation accidents with aircraft of the States Parties to the Agreement, both on their territories and beyond their borders, as well as within the framework of agreements concluded with other states.”

Earlier today, August 30, the Brazilian Center for Research and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (CENIPA) informedthat the IAC has notified the center that it is “not currently” going to investigate the crash of the Embraer plane under international rules. According to the center, in its response, the IAC referred to paragraph 13 of the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO): if an emergency occurred on a domestic flight, international standards do not apply to it. In turn, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and CENIPA would like an international investigation to prevent similar cases in the future.

Later in the Kremlin confirmedthat an international investigation into the crash of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s plane is not planned. The Kremlin will be guided by the conclusions of the Investigative Committee of Russia, which is investigating within the framework of a criminal case under an article on violation of traffic safety rules and the operation of air transport (Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
