“I can barely stand on my feet”: fire survivor Natalya Sturm saw a sign from above

The singer told how she came to her senses after an emergency on Chernyakhovsky Street

Singer Natalya Sturm turned out to be one of the residents of the house on Chernyakhovsky Street in Moscow, where a terrible fire broke out last night. At the time of the emergency, the star was at home: she still remembers what happened with a shudder. The star admitted to MK correspondents that after the fire she decided to change her attitude towards housing.

“I haven’t slept all night: I can barely stand on my feet,” Natalya sighs. – To be honest, not at all: I really want to sleep. But I can’t sleep because of nervous worries. They brought me a sleeping pill, I took it. But I still don’t fall asleep. Thank God everything is fine with my apartment. Today my daughter Lena was there – they let her through for a short time after she showed her registration. For now, the residents have been prohibited from returning, because investigative work is currently underway in our house. And for now it is impossible to live there, because there is no water.

– Where were you at the time of the fire?

– I was home alone. I wanted to take my grandson Daniel with me for the weekend, but he was coughing. We decided not to take him to me. And thank God! I can imagine how I would scare him. After all, in December he himself survived a fire in Krasnogorsk, where he was with his mother and brother. Now I had to endure all this horror. It was very scary – words cannot describe what you feel when you see the entire roof on fire.

– Was there any panic at the time of the fire?

– No, our house is very intelligent. Everyone behaved calmly. The city helped us as much as possible by providing food and water. A shopping center was opened for our residents, where we spent virtually the entire night. Everyone treated us very carefully, literally begging us to go to the hotel to relax, and not sit around waiting for us to be allowed into the apartments. We were warned: this will not happen soon. Many residents of neighboring houses offered to live with them for a while, especially to families with children. And I went to the hotel. They created excellent conditions for us: very warm rooms, it’s quiet and peaceful. There is a hammam, a spa area, and a gym. Go and study if you have the strength. But there is no strength.

– As I understand it, the fire happened on the roof of a neighboring house?

– Yes. We have two houses, but under one roof. They are serviced by different management companies. In house No. 4 they decided to switch to know-how by installing some kind of modern anti-icing system on the roof. And they made a mistake that led to such a tragedy. The upper floors were very badly damaged.

– What do you think you should do next?

– First of all, I plan to insure my apartment. I believe that this fire was sent to me as a sign from above, so that I would pay attention to the fact that I had done wrong before. I have never insured apartments. But in order to avoid such cases it is necessary. First my daughter had a fire, now it’s mine. Unfortunately, this happens often. Therefore, I must be as protected as possible.
