The Russian Ministry of Economic Development proposes to significantly expand the list of ways to verify your identity when checking into a hotel. A draft government resolution developed by the ministry has been published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts, which spells out what can be presented instead of an internal passport.
The first innovation is the ability to check into Russian hotels using a foreign passport. Now only Russians permanently residing abroad can do this. And although a foreign passport can be used to confirm your identity in Russia, this has not yet become a general rule.
In addition, it will be possible to check in with a military ID. Recently, a number of Russian parliamentarians came up with such an initiative. They proposed granting such a right to SBO participants. The Ministry of Economic Development is more radical in this regard: with the adoption of the document developed by it, it will be possible to confirm your identity using a military ID, a temporary certificate issued in lieu of a military ID, a certificate instead of a military ID, and even a personal electronic card (a plastic card that is issued to conscripts after registration). registration at the military registration and enlistment office).
You can also verify your identity at the hotel using a driver’s license.
Finally, the document states that the consumer will be able to provide passport data or driver’s license data in electronic form.
