In the spring, Mikhail Efremov may be released on parole. He is currently serving a sentence for a fatal accident.

We asked the relatives of the deceased Sergei Zakharov how they feel about this turn of events and whether they are ready to appeal the parole in the future.

Mikhail Efremov was convicted in 2020. The court sent the actor to prison for 7.5 years. In March 2024, the actor can apply for parole. If the court finds that the convict has reformed, the chances of the actor being released are high. Thus, Efremov may be released in March.

But there’s a catch. Victims in the case can express their position on this case. Then everything will depend on the judge, who may take the wishes of the victims into account, or may side with the convicted person. But if the injured party still demands that the convicted person not be released, the prosecutor has the right to appeal the parole, based on this fact.

The common-law wife of the deceased, Irina Sterkhova, with whom Sergei Zakharov lived in recent years, was surprised by the news. Let us remind you that the court did not recognize her as a victim.

When asked whether Efremov paid compensation, the woman replied: “Vitalik said that everything has been paid.”
