Guberniev supported the participation of Russian athletes in competitions in a neutral status

Presenter and sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev expressed his opinion regarding the performances of Russian athletes in a neutral status at international competitions. In conversation with “Gazeta.Ru” he stressed that he sees no problem with this.
“I believe that there would be nothing terrible if we went to compete in a neutral status – especially since we have already been neutral at three Olympics. I’m outraged when athletes who have already won Olympic medals begin to scream the most that the situation has changed, there’s no need to go anywhere now,” the commentator said.
He believes that those who speak out against performing in a neutral status show selfishness and a mocking attitude towards the country and athletes. Guberniev added that it looks especially strange when even those people who spoke in a neutral status say this.
IOC President Thomas Bach previously said that the final decision regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be made at a meeting of the organization’s executive committee in March.
