The authorities have recorded a shortage of teachers in Russia, said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. According to her, there are about 11 thousand people missing in the profession. She spoke about this at a plenary meeting in the State Duma.
“We are carrying out relevant work on this, including on means of implementing the Zemstvo Teacher project.” You know this project, 5 thousand people have already been attracted to the profession,” Ms. Golikova clarified, speaking with a report “On the situation of children and families with children in the Russian Federation” (quote from TASS).
She also added that about 72.4 billion rubles are allocated for the organization of meals in schools in 2024. “I also said in my speech that by September 1, 2023, we had just completed work throughout the country to prepare catering units to organize meals for primary schools,” the Deputy Prime Minister clarified.
In the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF) talkedthat about 40% of Russian schools currently have open vacancies for teachers. According to the ONF, the most significant is the shortage of physics and mathematics teachers. The organization fears that in the near future “there will simply be no one to replace retiring specialists in schools.”
