At a clinic in the capital, doctors found an embryo in the liver of a patient who suffered from pain in the lower abdomen. The Moscow Department of Health published a message about this on its website.
As stated in the documents, the patient went to the Konchalovsky city clinic with complaints of discomfort in the lower abdomen. After an ultrasound examination, doctors suggested that the woman had an ectopic pregnancy. During additional procedures, it was determined that the level of human chorionic gonadotropin was elevated in the patient’s body. This hormone begins to be produced by chorion tissue after embryo implantation.
Doctors performed an emergency laparoscopy, during which they discovered the patient was suffering from internal bleeding due to an ectopic pregnancy. Experts found a fertilized egg in the woman’s liver, which led to the rupture of the organ.
According to the source, it is impossible to maintain a pregnancy at a period of five to seven weeks, since the embryo is overgrown with many very thin capillaries, which in this situation have grown into the patient’s liver. Doctors made an emergency decision to perform laparoscopic resection of the liver with fertilized egg and removal of the gallbladder.
Operation was successfully completed. After a seven-day recovery, the patient was sent home.
