Google shares jumped 5% amid the presentation of a new artificial intelligence model Gemini (“Gemini”). It is capable of processing text, sound and image. Previously, the company presented a short video that demonstrates the operation of the system, for example, a corporation employee drew a duck on paper in real time, and Gemini described what he saw.

Roman Dushkin, CEO of the artificial intelligence developer company A-Z Expert, spoke about other features of the model: “Gemini is based on different principles. In OpenAI, a large number of texts are loaded into the neural network, and it learns to generate them itself. The model from Google, firstly, is multimodal, and secondly, it learns in the process of its functioning, like a child.

In fact, the corporation is now aiming to create an artificial intelligence system that learns by looking at how problems are solved by other intelligent agents, regardless of their nature: natural or artificial.

What this will lead to still needs to be understood. But Google, of course, breaks the mold and undermines the entire universe.”

In the AI race, Google has so far lagged behind Microsoft-backed OpenAI. In contrast to ChatGPT, the company introduced its own bot, Bard, in February. However, the presentation did not impress investors and resulted in a sale of securities worth $100 billion.

Now, as CNBC notes, shares of Google and Microsoft are almost equal in price. But there remain risks in the market that are common to all players in this segment, noted Dmitry Aleksandrov, managing director of the investment company Ivolga Capital: “As with any other asset, when a market consensus is formed that something is taking off and will soon will cost even more, we are seeing a peak in the value of these securities.

Investors look ahead, and if they expect growth, they are already purchasing. When this consensus emerges, we see that the purchases have actually exhausted themselves. Those who wanted to buy such assets in hopes of future growth have already done so.

And then any trigger can occur, for example, the bankruptcy of a company that deals with this segment. This can cause the bubble to deflate quite quickly.

Indeed, such papers are quite expensive. Of course, artificial intelligence is the future, and it will generate a lot of added value. But I would expect quite serious volatility in this segment, as we previously saw with electric vehicles.

Tesla shares, although they turned out to be quite profitable for investors in the long term, there were many opportunities to lose on them by buying assets at local highs.”

Meanwhile, the specialized publication TechCrunch notes that Google has somewhat embellished the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Journalists claim that during editing, long pauses between requests and responses were removed, and text prompts and still images were given to help the system.
