Gastroenterologist Natalya Slyunyaeva shared tips on what not to do after eating. Her advice is shared by v-tatarstane.ru.
As noted, food plays a crucial role in the well-being and health of a person, while what a person does after eating is also important.
The first advice is not to go to bed immediately after eating. This is due to the fact that during this period the parasympathetic nervous system is activated, which slows down the flow of blood to muscle tissues and accelerates its flow to the digestive tract. Sleeping after meals can contribute to heartburn or acid reflux. The doctor recommended to go to bed no earlier than 2-3 hours after eating, and then the digestive processes will go as it should.
Also, do not engage in vigorous physical activity after eating – this is a very common mistake that can lead to indigestion, nausea, vomiting and muscle cramps. Physical activity should be started no earlier than 1-2 hours after eating, and then the body will be able to digest what has been eaten.
Another recommendation is not to wear tight clothing, including pants or belts, after a heavy meal. Loose clothing that does not put pressure on the stomach and does not interfere with the digestive processes will be correct. Smoking after meals is also highly discouraged, Slyunyaeva said.
