Fourteen schoolchildren of the capital joined the Great Arctic Expedition

Moscow has announced the composition of the participants in the Great Arctic Expedition of schoolchildren who will go to conquer the Arctic.
The team of the famous traveler, director of the Travel Laboratory of the Moscow Department of Education and Science Matvey Shparo included 14 Moscow high school students.
“Science, education and the whole world in general are driven forward by those who are ready to spend huge efforts to make their dreams come true,” said Anton Molev, deputy head of the Moscow Department of Education and Science, welcoming the future members of the expedition. – I have not been able to visit the Arctic yet, but I know for sure that those who have been there have discovered something incredible for themselves, this is a unique experience. The Arctic as a space is a dream for many researchers. It’s great that today’s Moscow schoolchildren have such an opportunity to conquer the pole.
The selection for the expedition went in two directions: the group “Pioneers” recruited sports guys with tourist experience. Those who are interested in the natural sciences, environmental journalism and engineering sought to get into the Arctic Science squad. Decisive for determining candidates were training camps. The “pioneers” passed 100 kilometers on skis in Karelia under the guidance of instructors. Members of the “Arctic Science” detachment at the training camp in the Moscow region performed tasks on working with precision instruments, carried out natural science observations and demonstrated journalistic skills.
The start of the Great Arctic Expedition is scheduled for April 12. A team led by Matvey Shparo will make a ski trip of the 1st category of difficulty along the northern coast of the Taimyr Peninsula. The guys will walk from Bolshoy Island to the United Hydrometeorological Station named after E.K. Fedorov on Cape Chelyuskin. Members of the Arctic Science team will work at the station itself and test the scientific hypotheses formulated during the preparatory phase.
After the announcement of the composition of the expedition, the children were shown a documentary film dedicated to the journey of Moscow schoolchildren to the Arctic in 2022.
