Forecaster Leus spoke about the weather on New Year's Eve: snowy and comfortable

Meteorologists are not yet ready to give a forecast for Christmas

New Year’s Eve in Moscow and neighboring Russian regions is not expected to be very cold. The colorful picture shown in the film “The Irony of Fate” – thick snow and frost, which forced people to dance for the “sugrevu” – is unlikely to await the capital’s residents.

Leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, Mikhail Leus, told MK about the weather for December 31 and January 1.

– We, meteorologists, can still give a very preliminary forecast. We are not sure about it yet. The fact is that the situation with thaws is very difficult to overcome by frosts, says Mikhail Leus.

Now the temperature is about 5-7 degrees higher than usual. The weather will begin to cool down at the end of this week, with the thaw returning mid-next week.

Preliminary data indicate that we will celebrate the New Year in Moscow and neighboring regions with fairly winter weather, the expert says.

First, there will be a lot of snow on the ground. Secondly, there is a possibility that it will snow on New Year’s Eve, but symbolically, for beauty’s sake.

The air temperature is expected to range from minus 4 to minus 9 degrees below zero.

These are normal indicators for New Year’s Eve according to climatic characteristics.

– Mikhail Vladimirovich, if we remember the film “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath,” beloved by Russians, will New Year’s Eve be about the same?

– To be honest, it’s difficult to compare. “The Irony of Fate” was clearly not filmed on the New Year itself, like many films that are produced even in a different season. The sensational series “The Boy’s Word,” for example, where most of the action takes place in winter, was filmed generally in the summer…

– Can you guess what the weather will be like a week after New Year’s Eve, on Orthodox Christmas?

– Yes you! We definitely don’t look that far.
