April 19 in the folk calendar – Eutychius the Quiet and Yerema the Flying. Apple trees usually began to bloom on this day, and many signs of today are associated with these trees.
On this day, the girls went out into the garden early in the morning, trying to see the first apple flowers before everyone else. It was believed that the one who succeeded would marry for love. They admired the flowers of the apple tree, but did not pick them – they believed that then difficulties would arise in love affairs. And the flower, which itself fell to the feet, was considered a harbinger of a quick meeting with the betrothed and great love.
On this day, the mothers of unmarried girls shook the dowry of their daughters under the apple trees and asked them to find working sons-in-law. At the same time, they believed that if a branch falls from an apple tree during this procedure, the mother’s wish will come true.
Even under the apple trees, coins were buried, pouring well water. According to legend, after such a ritual, with the first harvest of apples, profit will come to the house.
It is impossible on this day to harm apple trees, cut them and break branches. Even pruning is worth the wait. It is believed that otherwise you can incur trouble.
No need to count your money today – to financial problems.
To attract prosperity, according to popular beliefs, clothes of brown shades will help on this day. But if you wear things in black, blue or green, you can scare away luck.
