The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, Abdurashid Magomedov, said that security forces in Dagestan neutralized five terrorist cells in 2023.
17 people, according to the head of the republican department, were detained for involvement in extremist and terrorist activities. Three criminals were neutralized during armed resistance, Magomedov said at a session of the republic’s parliament, delivering a report on the work of the police.
Five secret terrorist cells were neutralized in Makhachkala, Kaspiysk, as well as in the Gergebil, Kumtorkala and Dokuzparinsky districts.
In total, in 2023, 310 crimes of a terrorist nature and 26 of an extremist nature were registered in the region. But an important detail is that the vast majority of them were committed in previous years, and were only discovered in 2023.
