Energy consumption in the Unified Energy System of Russia increased by 1.5% in 2022

In 2022, the volume of electricity used by Russians within the framework of the Unified Energy System (UES) increased by 1.5% to 1.106 trillion kWh. This is stated in the report of the “System Operator” of the UES, which consists of 71 regional energy systems (.pdf).
At the same time, taking into account the temperature difference, energy consumption increased by 1.8% per year. In 12 months, almost 1.122 trillion kWh was produced in Russia, compared to 1.115 trillion kWh a year earlier (+0.6%). Compared to 2021, energy consumption grew the most in the eastern energy system (+3.8%) and the energy system in Siberia (+3.4%).
The cost of electricity in the European part of Russia and the Urals in December reached historical maximum on the stock exchange: 1.8 thousand rubles. for 1 MW•h. The jump in prices occurred due to the simultaneous withdrawal of several NPP units for scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
“System operator” hopesthat demand will continue to grow this year: according to the forecast, the figure may increase by 1.48%, to 1.08 trillion kWh, and in the Far East – by 4.6%, to 46.57 billion kWh .
