Egyptian doctors voiced versions of the death of a Russian woman in Sharm el-Sheikh

In a five-star hotel in the vicinity of the famous Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where there is now a record number of Russians, a tragedy occurred that once again reminded us of an unpleasant truth: this can happen to anyone. A 36-year-old Russian tourist suddenly died the day before the end of her vacation, having no prerequisites for such a terrible end to her vacation – chronic diseases, bad habits and previous long-term illness.

Having learned the details of the sudden death at the resort, we listened to doctors – both Egyptian and domestic.

The tragedy occurred on Wednesday; on Thursday, the Russian embassy in Cairo became involved, helping the relatives of the deceased with the speedy transportation of her body to her homeland. The diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation has not yet given official comments on the reasons for the sudden death: the final “diagnosis” of the deceased Anastasia from the Bashkir city of Salavat, alas, can now only be made by a forensic expert after an autopsy of the body, and all medical opinions voiced before are nothing more than versions. Although they can also be useful for those who are still continuing their vacation. In private, Russian embassy officials add that while the body of the deceased Russian woman is in the local morgue, the documents for its transportation are already ready. And the insurance company that issued a medical policy to Anastasia and her family is already calling the cause of death “sudden cardiac arrest.”

Relatives, namely the elderly mother of the deceased Anastasia, before whose eyes the tragedy occurred, are in shock. And so far she cannot even answer the insurers’ accusations that she did not contact her insurance company in a timely manner and did not require hospitalization. And the Egyptian guides of the five-star hotel where everything happened are already assuring other guests that “the girl simply spent her whole vacation drinking too much.” Although compatriots who were vacationing at the same time with a family from Bashkiria in the person of Anastasia, her four-year-old daughter and elderly mother, assure that the deceased tourist was never seen drunk. While the doctors who provided first aid to a tourist in the hotel medical room, when her temperature suddenly and for no apparent reason jumped to 40 degrees on the last day of her vacation, justify themselves by saying that they “did everything they do in such cases,” the Egyptians who were not involved in the emergency Doctors point out obvious mistakes.

“From the description of the case, we see that the Russian woman’s temperature jumped after swimming in the sea, and this was the penultimate day of her vacation, that is, before that, she swam there for a week without any consequences,” a doctor from Cairo Ali describes the sequence of events Abu Abtan. – Between swimming and a sharp deterioration in health, Anastasia had dinner with her family, everyone ate the same thing, but the tourist’s mother and daughter were fine. Based on this, doctors at the hotel ruled out heat stroke received during swimming, since it occurs in the first three days, as well as poisoning due to the fact that the woman did not have any additional symptoms other than elevated temperature. And they gave her an antipyretic. They also injected an injection, the contents and purpose of which the relatives of the deceased do not even know! This is the main mistake – not being interested in what they inject you with! Do you know that if a person whose blood pressure drops sharply is injected with a drug that lowers blood pressure, he can die? Meanwhile, for some reason, many are sure that if the temperature is increased, then so is the pressure. And without measuring the pressure, they “do everything they can” – they lower it further, as a result of which the person’s heart can actually stop.

In addition to the fact that unknown injections should not be allowed, Egyptian doctors not directly related to the emergency in Sharm remind that before any medical procedure it is necessary to measure blood pressure. And any person should know his allergic status – what exactly he may have an allergic reaction to.

“And before injecting anything, the doctor must ask if the patient is allergic to this drug,” adds Dr. Ali Abu Abtan. “In addition, since the beginning of March, Egyptian resorts have been warning about the influx of conus textile – a seemingly harmless shell, the inhabitant of which shoots conotoxin at the person who disturbs him – a nerve poison that leads to cardiac arrest.

Egyptian doctors remind that jellyfish and a number of other inhabitants of the Red Sea can also cause anaphylactic (allergic) shock in a chronic allergy sufferer, and nerve-paralytic shock in a person with a weak heart and blood vessels. And the black spots, which, according to the description of the hotel doctors, appeared on the legs of the deceased at the same time as she stopped feeling them, indicate that the tourist could, without noticing it, step on an insidious cone (a cone-shaped patterned shell in the range of beige to purple) or toxic jellyfish, which are periodically thrown into shallow water by the current. And for burns of these creatures, treatment is specialized, and pressure-lowering injections in this case are equal to death. The same applies to the dengue epidemic, which to one degree or another now exists in resorts with a tropical climate. With dengue, bringing down an elevated body temperature means preventing the body from fighting the infection that has entered it.

Insurers believe that it was a fatal mistake for Anastasia to trust the hotel doctor; she or her mother should have immediately called the phone number indicated on the policy: an ambulance would have been sent for the insured (an ambulance – author) and taken to the city hospital. However, the tourist was eventually taken there, but only closer to night, when the time to save her life had already been lost.

“Now everyone has attacked the poor mother, saying that she herself did not want her daughter to be hospitalized, because they had to fly out tomorrow,” says Russian woman Larisa, vacationing from the same hotel. “But I, for example, don’t understand how you can blame your mother for this!” Yes, I, too, would not be in a hurry to send my daughter to an Egyptian hospital as soon as her temperature jumped! This happens to everyone.
