Education has been partially suspended in almost 600 Russian schools and 12,662 classes due to the epidemic rise in the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). This was stated by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

According to Ms. Popova, such measures are necessary for effective prevention of influenza. The head of the department also drew attention to the fact that the suspension of the educational process is introduced taking into account the actual incidence. She clarified that in the absence of 20% of the children in the classroom, it is closed, thus the spread of the virus among children and other age groups is reduced.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, the incidence of influenza in Russia is growing by 30-35% every week. In addition, the incidence of COVID-19 has been increasing for the fourth week in a row.

On November 18, Rospotrebnadzor announced the start of the influenza and coronavirus epidemic season. As of December 13, the department fixed an increase in the incidence of swine flu in 82 Russian regions.
