Migrants went on strike at a factory near Rostov, demanding higher wages
Dozens of migrant workers from Tajikistan went on strike at a plant in the city of Shakhty, Rostov region. They were all fired. 161.RU writes about this with reference to a local publication.
According to him, more than 60 workers did not show up for shift on January 15, thereby disrupting the work of one of the workshops. The strikers put forward a demand for an increase in wages by 20-25 percent.
According to representatives of the enterprise, the workers’ wages were increased in September last year – they allegedly began to receive about 80 thousand rubles.
It is reported that 50 strikers wrote letters of resignation as a result of the protest. They were paid for the days they worked in January.
It is also clarified that the plant director called the strikers “aggressive saboteurs” and said that the decision to fire them was correct.
The workers themselves claim that about a hundred migrants have been fired.
