Doctor Myasnikov revealed the features of the new strain of coronavirus

Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov in conversation with aif.ru said that there is no need yet to introduce restrictive measures due to the growing incidence of coronavirus. Earlier, the anti-coronavirus headquarters reported that the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia over the past week increased by 49.2%, and the number of hospitalizations increased by 39.6%.

According to Myasnikov, no lockdown will help stop the infection, because the most it can do is slow down its spread in order to have time to adapt the capabilities of medicine to the increased load and mobilize medical facilities. He added that as of today, coronavirus is a type of acute respiratory infection and causes the same symptoms as a lot of other viruses, which is confirmed by the Omicron varieties.

As the doctor noted, the new strain B.2.86 has so far been registered in isolated cases, but it also manifests itself as a banal acute respiratory infection. Myasnikov pointed out that COVID-19 has come forever and has taken its place in the line of long-known coronaviruses that have been causing acute respiratory infections for many years, especially in the autumn-winter period. He clarified that the vaccines available today do not protect against new strains and there are no real antiviral drugs, but we also do not have vaccines or medicines for the common cold caused by coronaviruses of previous generations, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses and other ailments.

The specialist emphasized that any virus can be dangerous for risk groups, therefore, when predicting an outbreak of any viral seasonal disease, it is necessary to work with these population groups.
