2.5 thousand rubles. per week – this is the average amount children receive for pocket money in Russia. As a rule, a child has his own capital from the age of five, according to a study by the UMoney company. Analysts note that 80% of Russians give pocket money to their heirs and usually do not control their expenses. In the business community, as Kommersant FM found out, budgets are higher. How much money do you need for personal spending? And should you give bonuses to your children? Aelita Kurmukova found out.

The growth in pocket spending is far outpacing inflation. The minimum tariff has doubled in two years, to 500 rubles. per week, follows from the YuMoney survey data.

Parents prefer cash, and when asked when a child should have their first bank card, they answer – in elementary school.

But business representatives, as Kommersant FM found out, think differently. Younger schoolchildren do not need money, and good studies are not at all a reason for bonuses, noted Natalya Kasperskaya, president of InfoWatch Group:

“A parent-child relationship is not an employer-employee relationship.” I believe that a child just needs to grow up to a certain age, for example, until he graduates from a university, and then he should rely only on himself. I have five children.

And we don’t have any special system, we give pocket money as needed, but we ask you not to be too impudent, but in general we don’t limit it too much.”

Kommersant FM’s interlocutors give children twice as much as the average Russian for personal expenses – 5 thousand rubles. in Week. But they assure you that they are not pampering you, but teaching you how to manage your finances correctly.

To get something, you need to offer something, adds investment banker Evgeniy Kogan, father of four children:

“The child should receive his own personal budget. When children are still small, it is cash; when they are older, it is a credit card.

My heirs are creative, they usually figured out how to earn extra money on their own. When my schoolboy son realized that he wanted something special, he went to work part-time, for example, as an alpine ski coach.

In general, you need to sit down with your child and calculate the amount of his pocket money. He must understand what a budget is, that there is a limited amount of money.”

What about abroad? In Germany and the Netherlands, for example, this issue is dealt with by the Office for Minors. Every year, a corresponding leaflet is issued for parents. From the age of five, the authorities advise to allocate €2 per week, from 10 – €20, and from 14 years – already €40 per week.

The set of recommendations states: pocket money should be given on a certain day, regardless of the circumstances and behavior of the child.

The owner of Mr. also pays his son a kind of stipend. Doors Maxim Valetsky: “This is a matter of safety and comfortable existence. My children are adults. One of them is 20 years old, he studies at a university in England, he gets just enough money to buy food and go to a cheap pub.

A year ago we paid him 1 thousand pounds. Taking into account the current food inflation in England, this level has increased to 1.2 thousand pounds.”

Well, after university there is another six months, and then the child must cope on his own, adds Mr. Valetsky.

What about the bottom bar? Father of five children, owner of Point Group Pavel Treivas tries to seem strict:

“I give my eldest child pocket money, but I don’t give it to the fifth grader; he doesn’t need it anywhere yet. If my son, relatively speaking, wants to go to the cinema, we go to the cinema. Probably from the age of 14, we begin to allocate a personal budget.

If he needs money, he gets it, we are talking about 5 thousand rubles. for a week, probably. Now my son has gone to college, and now, of course, some monthly amount will be required, I think, in the range of 100 thousand rubles.”

But businessmen, it seems, are not ready to buy apartments for children. Participants in the Russian Forbes list have stated this more than once, for example, the founder of Wildberries, Tatyana Bakalchuk, a mother of seven children.

In an interview with Marie Claire, she explained that real estate, firstly, is unattractive as an asset. And secondly, money should be spent “on what gives you vivid emotions and makes you happy.”
