By the end of 2023, 12 ships will enter the Russian Navy, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said. Among them will be both surface and underwater vessels, including the strategic missile submarine Emperor Alexander III.
During a meeting at the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet following the results of work at enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the Far East, Sergei Shoigu said that over the past ten years the Russian Navy has been replenished with more than 50 ships. “Two ships have already been commissioned this year, and 12 more will arrive by the end of the year. Among them are the frigate Admiral Golovko, the strategic missile submarine Emperor Alexander III, and the nuclear submarine cruiser Krasnoyarsk,” the minister added.
The frigate Admiral Golovko, the third ship of Project 22350, built at the Severnaya Verf shipyard, was launched in May 2020. Project 22350 frigates are designed to destroy surface ships, convoys, landing forces, search and destroy submarines and ground targets.
“Emperor Alexander III” is the seventh missile carrier of the “Borey-A” family. The ship is capable of carrying 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.
“Krasnoyarsk” is a multi-purpose nuclear submarine of the “Yasen-M” project, armed with “Caliber” and “Oniks” cruise missiles.
Today, September 15, the head of the Ministry of Defense arrived in Primorsky Krai on a working visit. He checked fulfillment of the state defense order at the Far Eastern Zvezda plant in Bolshoy Kamen and at the Progress helicopter plant in Arsenyev. Sergei Shoigu also inspected the construction of a floating dock complex.
