Deputy Sultan Khamzaev proposed to chip officials - "lovers of world resorts"

Member of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Sultan Khamzaev (United Russia) considers it necessary to forcibly “chip” officials who like to relax in foreign countries.

“I believe that those officials who are restlessly rushing to rest abroad, who so need to go on their personal business, I propose to forcibly “chip”,” the deputy said (quote from “RIA News”).

According to Sultan Khamzaev, monitoring should be carried out among officials and the so-called “risk group” should be identified, that is, those who “traveled, are leaving and have a desire to go abroad on vacation.” Mr. Khamzaev suggests that such civil servants should be “equipped with satellite sensors – for their own safety.”

As the deputy clarified, a threat to the security of officials traveling abroad may arise, since “international counterintelligence works professionally cynically, including the stages of detection, development, establishing contact and deep recruitment,” as well as intimidating and summing up “certain crimes against their country.”

“From the point of view of national security in this period, the state has every right to know where and what these lovers of world resorts are doing. Modern satellite technologies in Russia make it possible to determine the location of a person up to a meter,” he concluded.

Discussions of a ban on officials traveling abroad began after two scandals related to the New Year holidays of regional deputies. First, sharp criticism was caused by a video from a vacation in Mexico of a non-partisan deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma Maxim Vasilyev, and then a selfie by Denis Dolzhenko, a member of the United Russia faction in the Vologda Legislative Assembly from Dubai.

January 17 “Kommersant” figured outthat unofficial bans on the travel of deputies and officials abroad have been introduced in the Vologda, Ulyanovsk and Tambov regions, as well as in the Republic of Mari El, Chuvashia and North Ossetia. On January 24, the State Duma introduced an amendment to its regulations, according to which deputies are required to inform the leadership about foreign trips. The Kremlin said they were not discussing such a ban yet.
