Mathematics has become one of the most favorite subjects for students of the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. Although 10-20 years ago, some students went to study journalism precisely because there was no mathematics in the curriculum at all.
As Elena Vartanova, dean of the faculty, said at a conference in the MK press center, the standards of education are gradually changing, and now students are glad that, being humanists, they can also study the exact sciences.
“Digitalization has raised the issue of modernizing journalism education,” says the professor. – Now our curriculum includes web analytics, the study of multimedia technologies, and the basics of statistics.
All these subjects should help future journalists master the logic they need to set new digital challenges.
