Daily Express: Warsaw’s decision on refugees from Ukraine dealt a blow to Zelensky

According to the British newspaper Daily Express, the decision of the Polish authorities to require refugees from Ukraine to pay half of the cost of housing is a serious blow to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The new rules of residence came into force on March 1, they apply to those refugees who stay in Poland for more than 120 days. Now they will pay half the cost of living, but not more than 40 zlotys (about 700 rubles) per day. From May 1, this amount will increase to 75% of the cost of living with a limit of PLN 60 (about a thousand rubles) per day for those who stay in the country for more than 180 days.
The Polish authorities justify their decision by the inability to continue to pay for the accommodation of 80,000 Ukrainians in the republic. Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said that Warsaw received 123 million euros from the EU’s special migration fund, but these funds were not enough. The Polish authorities also referred to the opinion of experts who believe that the optimal assistance to refugees should last no more than a year, and consider the new rules motivating.
According to the Polish authorities, 2.3 million Ukrainians live in the country, including 950,000 refugees.
