Court in Moscow refused to exclude Zemfira from the list of foreign agents

The Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow dismissed the claim of the singer Zemfira Ramazanova (recognized as a foreign agent) against the Russian Ministry of Justice, in which she demanded that her inclusion in the list of foreign agents be recognized as illegal.

According to the agency, during the meeting, a representative of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation said that Zemfira received foreign funding, which is confirmed by Rosfinmonitoring data. In addition, the representative of the department said that information from social networks confirms that the singer opposes the conduct of a special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine and publicly criticizes her.
Ministry of Justice of Russia announced Zemfira as a foreign agent on February 10, 2023. In the rationale for this decision, it was said that the singer “openly spoke in support of Ukraine, carrying out concert activities in unfriendly countries”, “received support from foreign sources.”
June 2 Zamoskvoretsky District Court of the capital rejected lawsuits by humorist Maxim Galkin, musician Semyon Slepakov and blogger Ilya Varlamov (all three recognized as foreign agents) for their exclusion from the list of foreign agents.
