The Russian government has simplified the conditions for participation in the state repatriation program

Head of Government Mikhail Mishustin signed a resolution to simplify joining the state program to promote voluntary resettlement to Russia. Now, in order to participate in the state program, a number of citizens will not have to confirm their knowledge of the Russian language at a level sufficient for communication, the government website says.

The decision, as specified, concerns compatriots from among the repatriates. That is, these are Russian citizens permanently residing abroad, as well as those who previously renounced Russian citizenship. In addition, the list for participation included people who were born or permanently resided on the territory of the RSFSR and previously had USSR citizenship, as well as citizens who have relatives who were born or permanently resided on the territory of the RSFSR or on territory that belonged to the Russian Empire or the USSR.

Resolution No. 169 dated February 14, 2024 was prepared as part of the implementation of the decree of the head of state. From January 1, 2024, as part of the state program to assist the voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad in our country, the institution of repatriation was introduced (including to support compatriots from unfriendly countries).
