Climatologists warn of an increase in the number of typhoons in the world
According to the journal Geophysical Research Letters, Japanese scientists at Nagoya University warned of an increase in the number of typhoons on the planet.
Experts noted that this dynamics is explained by the influence of climate change and rising sea water temperatures on typhoons.
As the lead author of the scientific work, Sachi Kanada, said, during the research, scientists analyzed the influence of the buffer effect of the interaction between the atmosphere and the ocean on cyclonic processes to assess the consequences of global warming. Based on this, a new model was created to predict the impact of tropical cyclones.
“The intensity of storms is related to the temperature of the sea surface. Small and fast storms intensify due to ocean heating and gradually decrease as the cyclone area increases,” the scientists noted.
