Russians have overcome their dependence on traveling abroad, and vacationing within the country has become fashionable and prestigious. This statement was made by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko during a visit to the Kemerovo region, writes TASS.
According to him, the domestic tourist flow is growing. So, last year it amounted to 78 million tourist trips, which is more than the pre-pandemic period and 21% higher than the number of trips in 2022.
At the same time, Chernyshenko noted that it is necessary to expand the tourism infrastructure in order to meet the growing demand of citizens.
“We have broken the colonial dependence on tourism, and vacationing in our country has become fashionable and prestigious,” concluded Chernyshenko.
Let us recall that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin set the government the task of working out issues of public-private partnership in tourismto avoid situations where the government does its part of the work, and business “freezes.”
