CAS motivated Valieva’s disqualification due to the discovery of a drug for muscle growth

The Court of Arbitration for Sport published the reasoning for the decision to disqualify Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva for four years. The decision states that the athlete’s positive doping test contained ecdysterone (stimulates muscle growth). Valieva herself, as stated in the decision, said that the prohibited substance (trimetazidine, there was a positive doping test for it) entered the body through a dessert prepared by her grandfather on the board where he crushed medicines. She could not explain how ecdysterone got into her body.
