Career guidance meetings will be held for parents of schoolchildren

The Ministry of Education has decided to recommend that secondary educational institutions hold meetings with the parents of schoolchildren on career guidance twice a year. Moms and dads, whose children are in the sixth grade and older, will be invited to them. The project is called Career Guidance Minimum.
According to Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, the first idea about the world of working professions is formed in children and adolescents during their studies at school. At the same time, basic pre-professional skills begin to form.
– It is at school that the most important questions are solved: who to be, what profession you like, more interesting and closer. Career guidance has always been a part of the education system, but at the same time it was implemented fragmentarily, often depending on the activity of the teachers themselves and local leaders. From September 1 of the next academic year, we will introduce a unified career guidance system in all schools of the country, starting from the 6th grade, – said Sergey Kravtsov.
Parents of schoolchildren will be told in detail how the training program is formed in specialized pre-professional classes, which enterprises educational institutions cooperate with, which specialties are most in demand in the regions, how demonstration exams are held, at which schoolchildren can receive certificates of their profession.

According to the minister, within the framework of the curriculum, it is planned to allocate one hour a week for career guidance activities for children: testing, project activities, excursions to enterprises, attending open days at colleges and universities.
