The protection of life was discussed at the VII International Hippocratic Medical Forum in Moscow

The forum brought together scientists, doctors, demographers, politicians, and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church. They said that the reproductive potential of the nation could become a factor in the demographic security of the country, which is now under direct threat.

According to deputy Dmitry Gusev, if it is recognized that demography is a matter of national security, then “…it’s time to make management decisions that will allow the birth rate to be controlled from a single center.”

Over 30 years, mortality in Russia actually exceeded the birth rate by 12 million people. For 2022 alone, minus 1.3 million.

According to demographers, by 2050 there will be only 120 million Russians left. And maybe even less.

According to the forum participants, the launch of a new comprehensive program to protect motherhood and preserve the health of children, announced the day before in Putin’s message, can change the situation.

The forum participants received a greeting from Patriarch Kirill, in which he emphasized that the Year of the Family, declared by the President, is a reminder of enduring moral values, including “caring for human life, beginning from the moment of conception.”

The Honorary President of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia, Academician Alexander Baranov, made a speech that on the issue of protecting the life of a child, pediatricians cooperate with the church.

Among other measures aimed at overcoming the demographic crisis, the withdrawal of abortions from the compulsory medical insurance system and the ban on artificial termination of pregnancy in private clinics were named.

At the moment, eight regions of Russia have already abandoned this practice.
