Britons are turning away from pets
[ad_1]
In 2022, the charity Dogs Trust received over 18,000 calls from pet owners who can no longer afford to keep their pets. This is 55% more than in the first seven months of last year as the cost of living still continues to rise.
Charity spokesman Adam Close told the Sunday Mirror: “Pet owners have to choose between paying all the bills and having their dog.”
The organization accepts 200 animals a week and is in dire need of caregivers to take care of the pets before they find a new home.
According to the publication, in the UK it takes about 30 thousand pounds (≈2.2 million rubles) to keep a dog in its entire life. Compared to last year, prices for animal feed have increased by 20 percent, and veterinary services have also risen in price.
