An English fan was detained for mocking a six-year-old boy who died of cancer. The BBC reports this.
The incident occurred during a football match between Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland. The two men made fun of Bradley Lowry, a Sunderland supporter who suffered from neuroblastoma, a tumor of the sympathetic nervous system.
One fan showed an enlarged photo of the boy in a Sunderland kit on his phone, while another laughed at it. Both men were detained. The person who showed the photo was charged with disturbing public order and could be banned from attending football matches. The other fan was released on bail pending an investigation.
Bradley Lowery passed away on July 7, 2017. The boy was a Sunderland fan, and thousands of team fans, as well as players and coaching staff, came to his farewell.
