The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Kamchatka Territory deprived the citizenship of a resident of the region who became a Russian citizen in 2014, renouncing Ukrainian citizenship. As the FSB reported, from June 2020 to February 2022, the man repeatedly posted on VKontakte calls for execution, murder, and burning of Russians and government officials.
“At present, the decision of the Federal Migration Service of Russia for the Kamchatka Territory to admit the attacker to the citizenship of the Russian Federation has been canceled,” says the FSB in a statement (quoted from “RIA News”).
A resident of Kamchatka was previously convicted of justifying and promoting terrorism. The court sentenced him to four years in prison. The FSB does not specify when the verdict was handed down or whether the defendant admitted guilt.
This is not the first case of deprivation of acquired citizenship from a resident of the Kamchatka Territory. The authorities previously took such a measure against a native of one of the CIS countries, who became a Russian citizen in 2009, for posting videos on social networks that approved of the actions of militants in Chechnya.
