Bluesky breaks down from influx of new users amid X’s announcement to disable blacklisting

Social network Bluesky from the founder of Twitter (now social network X) Jack Dorsey faced with problems when working against the background of a significant increase in the number of registrations. In the 24 hours after social network X announced that it might be removing the in-app user blocking system, 5,600 new users signed up for Bluesky, up from 546 the previous day.
Bluesky was slow and gave errors when trying to load posts. Photos and graphics were also difficult to load. The site’s status page indicated that the developers were investigating a performance issue and then resolved it.
Earlier, the owner of the social network X, Elon Musk, said that he was thinking about removing the user blocking functions from the application, leaving only the inability to write in private messages. After other users wrote to Mr. Musk about violating Apple Store and Google Play rules in case blacklists were disabled, he replied that it would still be possible to block interlocutors in messages and mute other accounts, that is, not receive notifications from muted users. Previously, blocking prevented other users from viewing the likes of the person who blocked it, as well as lists of followings and subscribers. Also, the blocked user could not be tagged in the photo.
