Citizens of Russia who are awarded the badge “Inhabitant of the besieged Stalingrad” will be equated to the category of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. About it informed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The badge of honor “Inhabitant of besieged Stalingrad” is awarded to citizens who during the Battle of Stalingrad from August 23, 1942 to February 2, 1943 were in the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd).

“The government has prepared amendments to the legislation so that from this year they will receive the same privileges as veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the corresponding guarantees of social protection,” said Mr. Mishustin, opening the government meeting.

Social guarantees include the right to simultaneously receive two pensions, monthly cash payments and the opportunity to improve housing conditions at the expense of the federal budget, the prime minister specified.

According to the Committee for Social Protection of the Population of the Volgograd Region, at the moment, 3,997 people have been awarded the “Inhabitant of the besieged Stalingrad” badge. For holders of the status, in particular, a monthly cash payment of 443 rubles is provided. and a monthly payment to compensate for 50% of the cost of housing and communal services.
