Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin said that in 2022, 4,231 criminal cases were initiated based on reports of crimes committed by foreign citizens. Relative to 2021, the number of criminal cases has tripled.
“Now they are observed (crimes committed by foreign citizens.— “b”) height. Of particular concern is the statistics on grave and especially grave crimes. Last year, 893 criminal cases were initiated on such crimes as murder and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim. This is five times more than in 2021,” said Alexander Bastrykin (quote from Interfax).
According to Alexander Bastrykin, “extremist sentiments are spreading among illegal migrants.” Elderly and defenseless citizens often become victims of migrants, the head of the TFR specified. He also noted that there has been an increase in the number of criminal cases on crimes against sexual integrity.
“With the participation of migrants, mass fights often occur, causing a wide response. Most of these criminal acts are committed by visitors from the Central Asian countries of the CIS. Just last week, the organizer of such mass fights and five of their participants were detained in the capital. Natives of Central Asia attacked people, beat them, wanting to oppose themselves to those around them. All this was recorded on video and published on social networks,” he added.
At the end of 2022 Alexander Bastrykin informedthat over 7,000 crimes committed by migrants were investigated in 11 months of last year, one third of them were grave and especially grave. The greatest number of crimes was committed in the Moscow region, the second place was occupied by Moscow, the third – St. Petersburg.
