The space agencies of China and Azerbaijan signed a joint statement on cooperation within the framework of the construction program of the International Scientific Lunar Station (ISS), reported CGTN TV channel.
A memorandum of cooperation in the creation of the MNLS was signed by Russia and China in 2021. As part of the project, the countries must jointly develop a roadmap for the creation of the station, interact in planning, justification, design, development, implementation and operation of the project.
According to CGTN, the signing of a statement of cooperation took place during the 74th International Astronautical Congress, held earlier this month in Baku. According to the document, both parties intend to cooperate, including in training personnel and conducting scientific experiments. The TV channel notes that Pakistan, the UAE, South Africa and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization also previously joined the program.
Roscosmos said in 2021 that the MNLS will be created on the surface and/or in orbit of the Moon. The station will be used “to conduct multidisciplinary and multi-purpose research work.” Earlier in October it became knownthat the construction of the continuous casting station can be completed by 2040.
