Automaker AvtoVAZ has confirmed its plans to resume serial production of the Lada Largus model at the Izhevsk plant in May of this year. The company has already begun production of an experimental test batch of five such cars.

Company President Maxim Sokolov noted that the plant is returning to work after a break, and emphasized its readiness to begin full-scale production of the Lada Largus, which is one of the most popular light commercial vehicles in the country.

The press service of AvtoVAZ reported that production of an experimental test batch of Lada Largus has already begun at the plant in Izhevsk. The first five vehicles scheduled to be produced by the end of this week will be commercial vans. It is planned to release 80 of these models by May in order to test production technologies, train personnel and test equipment.

Let us remind you that AvtoVAZ owns production sites in Tolyatti and Izhevsk. In mid-2022, Renault transferred its share in AvtoVAZ to the state ownership of the Russian Federation. Today, the Lada brand is represented by four families of models: Vesta, Largus, Granta and Niva. In 2023, sales of Lada cars amounted to 352.6 thousand units, which is almost double the previous year.
