At the trial of Mavridi, they told how the “sausage king” Marugov was killed

The policeman remembered the chase, and the entrepreneur – about the sold crossbow

Some details of the high-profile murder of businessman — sausage manufacturer Vladimir Marugov, which happened on the night of November 2, 2020 in the village of Anosino, Istra district of the Moscow region, were discussed on Wednesday at the Moscow Regional Court. This is part of the high-profile trial in the case of the “Mavridi group” – Alexander Mavridi, accused of the murder of Marugov, “became famous” for the fact that on August 6 last year he escaped from the Istra pre-trial detention center with five other prisoners.

Wednesday’s meeting was dedicated specifically to the murder. The court questioned three witnesses. The seller of a weapons store located in Moscow on Kirovogradskaya Street said that on November 1, 2020, two men bought from him a hunting crossbow with a set of arrows and tips, as well as a knife – for only about 33 thousand rubles. The seller could not identify them in any of those present. He also did not remember the date of the purchase, but it was clarified by reading his testimony during the investigation. Hunting from a crossbow at that time was prohibited, about which the seller notified the buyers, and the crossbows themselves were sold.

Then the duty officer of the Istra police spoke. He said that late in the evening of November 1, while patrolling with a partner in a UAZ car, he received a signal that robbers had entered the house in the village of Anosino. However, the police did not reach the village, because on the way, they met a Citroen van with hung numbers. The patrol turned around and chased the intruders. The pursuit led to the nearest village of Borzye, where the policemen were in for a failure: the driver and passenger of the Citroen jumped out and immediately disappeared, running into the gate of one of the sections. As follows from the case file, it was the same van that belonged to Mavridi.

The third witness is a security guard of a private security company who guards a cottage settlement in the village of Anosino. It was he who, just that night, drove to the Marugovs, having received a call from the housekeeper.

Looking through the window of the bathhouse at the Marugovs’ plot, the guard saw that Vladimir Marugov was lying on the floor covered in blood. However, he did not enter the bathhouse (which raised questions from the court). But Marugov’s stepfather Alexander Belenky approached the security guard and asked him to look for the businessman’s wife, Sabina Gazieva. She ended up in a nearby area, naked, wearing only slippers and with her hands tied. The guard helped the woman clean herself up, and that was the end of his role.
