The head of the only social movement in Russia against slavery “Alternative” Oleg Melnikov disappeared for six days in the Kharkov region of Ukraine, where the organization was delivering humanitarian aid. This is reported in Telegram “Alternatives”.
“Six days ago, beloved by us and important to many, our leader, Oleg Viktorovich Melnikov, and one of our colleagues disappeared. On September 8, they entered the territory of the Kharkiv region with humanitarian aid,” Alternativa reported.
On September 9, Oleg Melnikov and his colleagues were going to return to Russia. On September 11, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the regrouping of troops from the Kharkov region to the Donetsk direction.
Oleg Melnikov covered most of the organization’s costs. Alternativa reported that it no longer had the ability to support the people in their shelters. The movement has also stopped accepting applications to help those in need.
In 2019, Oleg Melnikov went missing in the city of Idlib in Syria. He went there with volunteers to help citizens of Russia and the CIS who fell into slavery. Later it became known that Oleg Melnikov took refuge in a shelter from the militants.
