Computer science, chemistry, physics, mathematics and geography – these are the subjects, in descending order, that arouse the greatest interest among the capital’s schoolchildren who attend this year’s “University Saturdays” at the Russian State University of Oil and Gas. I. M. Gubkin. These are the results of a study conducted at the institute by the organizers of the project.

According to the project curator, deputy executive secretary of the admission committee of the university Vadim Maslov, in the list of specialized educational institutions with which there is active cooperation, there are more than thirty secondary educational institutions in Moscow and the Moscow region, in particular school No. 45 named after L. I. Milgram, “Lyceum National Research University Higher School of Economics, School No. 1191, Educational Center “South-West”, School No. 199, School No. 117, School No. 97.

“Our teachers give high school students lessons in core subjects for children so that they can prepare as successfully as possible for the Unified State Exams. This is how the work on the project “Engineering class in a Moscow school” is going on,” says Vadim Maslov. – But within the framework of the “University Saturdays” project, which is an element of the system of additional education and is an excellent “way” of career guidance, various classes are held at the university itself, for example, this Saturday students will be told how scientists can learn the structure of the bodies of marine organisms and restore after that their way of life; under the guidance of teachers, children will train in solving mathematical problems of increased complexity, as well as learn about the history of nuclear and thermonuclear energy, the achievements of our country in this area and talk about what gas has to do with it. This year, as part of the project, we have already hosted about forty such events.

As you know, the project “University Saturdays” has been implemented in Moscow for nine years. It allows schoolchildren to attend interesting lectures, seminars, master classes, excursions and quests for free in various higher educational institutions of the capital. There, the guys not only get new knowledge, but also “touch” different specialties, figure out what they are interested in, and also study in depth those disciplines that they need to pass the State Final Attestation.
