An international team of astronomers from Australia, the US and Japan analyzed the data obtained by the Gemini North telescope and suggested that the object ULAS J1342+0928 is the traces of the very first stars that existed in the universe.

According to the authors of the scientific work, this assumption is supported by the amount of iron in the gas clouds around the quasar and the ratio of this amount to the magnesium content.

It is assumed that the cloud appeared as a result of the explosion of a paired supernova.

The work of astronomers was published in a scientific publication “The Astrophysical Journal“.
