A group of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), along with Brazil’s National Animal Welfare Forum, filed a 1 million reais ($200,000) lawsuit against the Brazilian Football Confederation (CFB). The reason for the lawsuit was a scandal with a cat. The magazine reports El Grafico.

At a press conference on the eve of the World Cup quarterfinal match between Brazil and Croatia, a cat jumped onto the table. The press officer of the Brazilian national team took the animal by the scruff of the neck and threw it to the floor. The incident caused a strong reaction in social networks, many users criticized the press officer for the cruel treatment of the cat.

Animal rights activists demanded that the CFB conduct training for employees on animal care and environmental protection, as well as a public apology. The list of NGOs that joined the lawsuit is not given.
