The St. Petersburg Tourism Committee stated that the resort tax for tourists introduced from April 1 will apply to accommodation in hotels, apartments and hostels in the city even for residents of the nearest suburbs belonging to the Leningrad region. The cost of the “tax” is 100 rubles per day for each adult.
How stated 78.ru in the committee, residents of the Leningrad region will also pay, because “this is a different region.”
In a conversation with Podem, officials stated, that “they never said that this would not affect the Leningrad region.” They added that even having temporary registration in St. Petersburg “does not give the right not to pay the resort fee.”
“There is nothing so critical or catastrophic here,” city authorities are confident.
