The extreme marathon “Pole of Cold – Oymyakon” took place at a temperature of -55 degrees.
REN TV reported that today the extreme marathon “Pole of Cold – Oymyakon – 2024” took place in the Oymyakon region of Yakutia.
It is clarified that the athletes ran at a temperature of -55 degrees. In total, 38 people from five regions of Russia took part in the “cold run”. They were given a choice of two distances – a half marathon of 21 kilometers and a marathon of 42 kilometers.
Before the start of the marathon, all participants received instructions. The route started from the “Pole of Cold” stela in the village of Oymyakon and ended in Obruchev Square in the village of Tomtor.
Today at nine o’clock in the morning at the YAUGMS observation point in Oymyakon, weather forecasters officially recorded 55 degrees below zero.
