The cost of paid education at universities will increase by 10-12% – Kommersant

President of the Association of Non-State Universities of Russia Vladimir Zernov said that the cost of paid education at universities in the 2024-2025 academic year will increase by 10-12%. The rise in prices, according to him, is associated with increased spending on equipment due to the departure of import suppliers, increased prices for housing and communal services and compensation for salaries of specialist teachers.

“It is unlikely that the Ministry of Education will allocate additional funds to universities. Most likely, they themselves will have to find a way out of this situation. This will increase the cost of education. According to our estimates, it will happen within 10–12%,” said Vladimir Zernov “Izvestia”.

In the admissions committee of REU. G.V. Plekhanov confirmed to Izvestia plans to increase tuition fees due to “increased costs for the implementation of educational programs.” They clarified that the increase will be from 5% to 8% for engineering and technical areas and from 8% to 15% for humanitarian and socio-economic specializations.
