An American woman stole an egg from the zoo and raised an alligator in the yard

A resident of the city of Buda (Texas) illegally raised a two-meter alligator in her backyard. She nursed him for two decades, according to WSAZ.
The predator was discovered by the Texas Wildlife Service. They raided the owner while investigating another case. The owner of the alligator admitted that she stole an egg from the zoo Animal World & Snake Farm 20 years ago. During that period, she worked there as a volunteer.
“Alligators can have 50-60 eggs in a nest,” explains zoo employee Jarrod Fortman. “You can easily pick up an egg and no one will notice.”
The owner, as noted, took good care of the alligator, and he grew up friendly, not showing aggression over all these years. The wildlife service still took the predator, as the woman did not have legal rights to keep it.
The woman took this situation rather hard, besides, she faces a fine of up to a thousand dollars for illegal content.
The alligator was returned to its native zoo. The statute of limitations for the theft of the egg has expired, so nothing will stop the owner from visiting the pet.
