Almost 4 thousand veterans of the Northern Military District were employed by the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation after returning home

The main goal of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation is personal support for heroes who returned home and family members of fallen soldiers. They help here not only with medical and social rehabilitation, but also with acquiring a new profession and finding a job. Thanks to the fund, since June 1, 2023, more than 3 thousand veterans of the Northern Military District have undergone free training or retraining, and almost 4 thousand have found employment.

The Foundation actively interacts with universities and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science: a special platform has been launched, thanks to which participants’ applications for higher education programs will be sent directly to the university chosen by the applicant through the Foundation’s social coordinators.

For the social and labor adaptation of special operation veterans, the foundation together with the Russian Society “Znanie” launched the Znanie project. It will be attended by 150 people from five regions of the country: Lipetsk, Tomsk and Astrakhan regions, Stavropol Territory and the Republic of Buryatia. They will be able to undergo training programs in 50 different specialties, each participant will choose the direction that will be interesting to him. After completing the courses, the organizers will help graduates with employment.

“Our country is building a full-fledged educational and personnel infrastructure, which allows veterans, including those with disabilities, to improve their knowledge in the subject area and even acquire a new profession in a fairly short time. In this way, our heroes can find a new field of activity for themselves. We help anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and gain skills, for example, in information technology, to master the necessary tools. In order for them to successfully find employment, it is necessary to create suitable conditions and provide the necessary support and adaptation,” Natalya Pichugina, HR Director of Greenatom JSC, shares her opinion.

Work on the employment of veterans of the Northern Military District is actively carried out by the fund together with employment centers in the regions of Russia. For example, in the Rostov region they provide maximum assistance in this direction:

“We help with finding a job to everyone who turns to us for assistance in this matter. We provide a whole range of public services – from vocational guidance, psychological support, social adaptation in the labor market to assistance in employment. If necessary, we can organize vocational training and help obtain additional vocational education, including within the framework of the national project “Demography,” says the head of the department of the state employment service of the Rostov region Sergey Grigoryan.

One of the demobilized soldiers with disabilities who underwent retraining and got a job is Artem Solovyov. He took part in a special operation, was on the line of combat contact, and lost his left leg during a mortar attack. Now she is raising three children and works in the military registration and enlistment office of the city of Bataysk, Rostov region.

“The Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation provides assistance to special operation veterans, including with retraining and employment. This is very important, because a lot of guys return home, some with injuries, and don’t know what to do next. Many of them cannot work in their previous place; they need a new profession. The fund just helps to get a new specialty and find a job,” says Artem Soloviev.

Another resident of the Rostov region Stanislav Karpavicius Thanks to the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, he is now learning a new profession – a database operator. The hero received from the foundation not only a referral for retraining, but also rehabilitation means. Individual orthopedic shoes will help him lead a full life. It was made according to a special order from the foundation at a Rostov enterprise.

Let us remind you that the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation was created by Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin in April 2023. Its main goal is personal support for North Military District veterans and family members of fallen soldiers. Here they help with medical and social rehabilitation, retraining and employment, provide legal support, adapt housing to the needs of the disabled and provide long-term home care. The foundation also engages veterans in physical education and sports, the Paralympic movement, organizes cultural events, and holds meetings on the patriotic education of youth with the participation of defenders of the Fatherland.
